Breast Cancer Awareness – My 5 Fav Brands Giving Back

Pinktober is almost over, but it’s not too late to donate to a worthy cause by purchasing products from your favorite beauty and fashion brands. Today I’ll share my 5 favorite brands who are giving back to Breast Cancer Awareness this month.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month | Pinktober

What is Pinktober?

Intended to educate people regarding the importance of breast cancer screening and testing, Breast Cancer Awareness month, or Pinktober (Pink + October), was created by major breast cancer charities as an annual international health campaign to help spread awareness. For the month of October these charities create awareness of the disease and raise money aimed at prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and hopefully one day a cure. Since pink is often associated with breast cancer due to the pink ribbon, the October campaign is frequently referred to as Pinktober. During October everyone wears pink to support the cause and support breast cancer survivors or anyone who is affected by breast cancer.

Here’s my 5 favorite brands giving back to Breast Cancer Awareness this year:

NY & Company

Think Pink Campaign - Donating to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation

NY & Company’s Think Pink Campaign has over 20 items to choose from where $2 from each purchase will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). Their goal is to raise $50,000 this month and to date they’ve donated over $700,000. NY & Co has some really cute pink tops and jackets to choose from. I purchased the leggings and sweat shirt and its super comfy – I’m sure I’ll be wearing this set a lot this Fall and Winter.

Ashley Stewart

The Pink Collection - Donating to Susan G. Komen

Ashley Stewart’s Pink Collection has a lot to choose from. Tops, bottom, accessories and jewelry in all shades of pink are included. They’ll be donating a minimum of $200,000 to the Susan G. Komen foundation along with other fundraising promotions and initiatives. Many of the popular items sold out online, so be sure to check the inventory at your local stores. I’m hoping to snag one of the necklaces or earrings.

Macy's

The Pink Shop- Donating to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation

Macy’s We All Thrive Campaign allows customers to shop their Pink Shop collection which includes over 100 items for men and women. Purchases from The Pink Shop will be rounded up to the nearest dollar and the change will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the largest private funder of breast cancer research in the world.  There’s definitely something for everyone in this collection from watches to clothing and perfume.

Beauty Blender

The Bubblegum Pink Blender - Donating to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation

It’s only right that one of the most popular pink beauty products participates in Pinktober. I’m a die hard fan of the beauty blender and use it daily so I’m excited to see them participating in Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Bubblegum Pink Blender is all dressed up in a shimmering canister this month and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to BCRF. Beauty Blender is planning to donate $20,000 this month.

Olay

Limited Edition Regenerist Whip Pink Ribbon Moisturizer + Refill - Donating to Bright Pink

Olay is a beauty staple in my household so I’m happy to include them on this list. Olay is donating 100% of the proceeds from their Limited Edition Regenerist Whip Pink Ribbon Moisturizer + Refill to benefit Bright Pink and their life-saving mission focused on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer. Not only will you be donating to a great cause with this purchase, but will also have beautiful skin. Olay never disappoints!

Conclusion

I recently attended the BETher Fights Breast Cancer award show where many breast cancer survivors were honored and many facts were shared about how breast cancer affects women in the black community. After attending the show, I was inspired to write this post and spread some awareness through my blog. Even though black women are less likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer in comparison to other races, black women are 42% more likely to die in comparison. Breast cancer is also the leading cancer diagnosed among black women. With that being said, I think its import to spread awareness and support the causes not only during October but all year.

Lets talk! If affected, share what Pinktober means to you. Or share your favorite brands who are giving back this month. Thanks for reading and please follow me on all social medias at @parishartdotcom!
