Computer programmer by day…all day fashionista

The Best Dressed Nerd is not about “nerdy fashion” as the title may suggest. Instead, it is my outlet and form of expression – the girl who loves fashion but who’s “9-5” is in corporate America in Information Technology. Like many other bloggers I have the desire to share what I love with the world, but I also wanted to make sure the brand completely represented my personality and me as a person – the stylish girl who’s hobbies and likes don’t quite match their day job. After contemplating for many months about my love affair with fashion and technology the Best Dressed Nerd was born.

…being a nerd is a gift and should be highly revered. It is not often that you will find an unsuccessful nerd. Therefore be nice to your fellow nerds—you never know, you may be working for them one day.

For the past 8 years I have worked in the technology field. My experience ranges from web management and development to most recently database development and data analysis. I’m the girl that most people seem to be very shocked when they learn what I do professionally. I only assume its because the way I look, right? Perhaps the way I dress. Over the years I’ve found it very interesting the reaction I receive. Since I don’t meet the status quoe for the average person working in a tech field (an introverted, white, mail), I often wonder based on how I look or how I dress what field would people assume I work in?
